Join us February 19th to learn about sustainable food production and help install a market garden and demonstration food forest garden to provide food to underserved communities in Fairfield! This public, hands-on installation workshop series will create a demonstration food forest garden at the Fairfield Community Seventh Day Adventist church providing an opportunity to learn about permanent beds, hedgerows, and permaculture. This project is in partnership with Fairfield Community Seventh Day Adventist Church. Day 1: Sunday, Feb 19th-Earthworks/Irrigation Learn how to prepare a growing space for a perennial food forest and lay irrigation to ensure its success.Volunteer tasks: Dig swales, move woodchips, and lay irrigation lines.* wear mask. closed toe shoes, sun protection, bring gloves and water * Lunch will be provided *Bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs PPE and Social Distancing Guidelines Staff and volunteers shall maintain at least a 6-foot distance from others, excluding other household members.Staff and volunteers shall wear a face covering/mask that covers nose and mouth.
