Garden activities run from 8:45 - 11:30 am and require registration. General admission is free for the following (for guests that are not signed up for a workshop): Master Gardener (MG) Training Garden Open House: MGs will be on hand to answer questions about the vegetable and flower raised bed gardens. Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) Team Open House: Learn about the current status of CRB and the steps you can take to protect palms in your area. Rose Garden Open House. Rosarians will be on hand to answer your questions about rose care.Waterwise Home Idea Garden Open House. Master Gardeners will provide tours and answer questions about growing water saving plants for landscaping. Hānai Kaiāulu & Nānākuli High School Students will demonstrate a viable prototype for community-level, organics recycling through the use of compost. Shredded cardboard can help suppress weeds, improve soil texture and retain moisture. The team recently won $25,000 in a competition sponsored by American Savings Bank. Bring your own cardboard to be shredded and take it home! (video below)'Got a Plant Question'? Master Gardeners will be available for consultation on gardening topics. Guests are welcome to bring plant samples and ask questions. CTAHR seeds and fruit fly bait will be for sale. Workshop tickets required for the following activities (workshop tickets include general admission to free activities): 9:00 - 10:00 am ($5 fee): Fruit Hui members will lead a tour of the fruit orchard. Learn about tropical fruit tree varieties from the experts.8:45 - 9:45 am ($5 fee): Grafting demonstration by Master Gardeners. Watch a demonstration of the grafting process and take home a plant for practice. 9:30 - 10:30 am ($5 fee): 'Flowers Love Vegetables' presentation by the Master Gardener Bonnie McCann. Learn about the importance of interplanting vegetables with flowers for pollination and great flowers to plant. Limited flower and vegetable seedlings for sale. 9:30 - 11:00 am ($15 fee): Plant Propagation Workshop for beginners taught by Master Gardener Emeritus Bea Sailer. Topics to include propagation by cuttings, seed propagation, and maintenance. Take home your own plantings. Hands on workshop. Please bring your own pruners and gloves. 10:00 - 11:00 am ($5 fee): Spring Plant Selection Workshop. Master Gardener Emeritus Amy Teves will talk about selecting appropriate vegetables for your Spring garden. UGC Guidelines: Guest registration required on Eventbrite.Event hours from 8:45 am to 11:30 am.The restrooms will be open during the event hours.Bring drinking water to stay hydrated in the heat. Food will not be for sale. Wear appropriate outdoor attire: closed toe shoes and a hat or umbrella.Only guide dogs are allowed. No pets allowed.Only guided tours are available. The rest of the gardens are closed to self-tours. All guests must sign a UGC consent waiver at the registration area upon arrival.
