Description

On Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, Michael Birdsong, a Florida A&M University (FAMU), Public Health DrPH Candidate, will serve as a mental health check-in coordinator to basically gauge where Black men’s mindsets are, related to the trials and tribulations of being a father in today's society. Michael Birdsong is teaming up with the National Alliance of Mental Illness, the City of Tallahassee, Florida A&M University, and The Black Men's Health initiative to address and check-in on Black men’s mental health. The audience for this session will be Black men, of all ages so there can be different walks of life in the room to share lived experiences. We have also secured the support of Dr. Sam Carter of 24/7 DAD, to offer programming and resources for the session. After this session of the Black Men’s Mental Health Check-In, we are committed to continuing the outreach of this program by providing specific trainings in the upcoming months and expanding into other minority neighborhoods, including South City and the Greater Bond Neighborhood. For additional information or question concerning the event, please contact Michael Birdsong at [email protected] .
