Gypsy Jazz Jam at the West End Library in DC
The first of a series of free events, Swingology will provide a 45-minute set of our standard Gypsy Jazz repertoire with an open jam afterwards.
All musicians and vocalists are welcome to come take part in the jams. We will have a limited set of the Django Real Book for those that read music.
Gypsy Jazz, aka “Hot Club Jazz,” is best defined by the works of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and was prominent in late 30s early 40s in Europe. It features generally up-tempo danceable rhythms with instrumentation including guitars, violin, upright bass, clarinet, and accordion.
So, bring your gypsy style to the West End Library and jam with Swingology!
