Description
Hey all,
I'm a drummer in several local bands (mostly metal), but wanted to take aim at something sortof on the side.
I wanted to see if anyone needed any hand percussion on recordings, or if anyone wanted to just jam at some juncture who has need for it?
Let's start by saying I am not formally trained in this, and while I do eventually want to get into learning some proper maqamat for doumbek, or some traditional bongo rhythms, I am at present just doing what sounds intuitive, and enjoying it. I did take a consultation by River Guergerian once who, while I could not afford to continue lessons, was very kind in telling me my intuition served a good style. I'll always cherish that exchange.
My primary percussion instruments are doumbek, frame drum (fingerstyle), and cajon. Working on bongos more recently. Foot tambourine included.
Mostly inspired by North African / Middle Eastern music, and recently also Cuban son.
Glen Velez is a great source of inspiration for frame drum.
Let me know of your ideas! Just looking for an excuse to gain more experience and make more memories.
Willing to consider genres I'd not ever have thought to work with before.
Additionally, while I am quite frequently booked in my metal bands, I do offer session drums work, mostly for metal, but will consider helping artists with more straightforward rhythms regardless of genre. Friends don't let friends put drum programming on full records.
Thank you for reading!
