Description
No adoption fee to approved adopter. He is loyal and patient with those he loves and he is really good with most other dogs. He has a protectors heart. If you want a dog that makes you feel safe at night this is your boy. Chase had been at the shelter way too long (months). It’s a difficult place for active intelligent breeds. He was showing signs of severe kennel stress. We have taken him as a temporary foster. He has a limited amount of times he can stay. His situation is urgent. He desperately needs a forever or foster home. He deserves a warm bed, lots of treats, toys and snuggles. this is what I observed so far: * Out of the shelter environment he is a different dog. He actually is a really good house dog. * Loves playing with the other large dogs and is good with our smaller dogs. * Loves running playing in the fenced yard * Has a very convincing warning bark but warms up quickly * Is able to sleep loose in the house without a problem (we are just starting to leave him unattended in the house while we run errands with no problems so far.) * No accidents inside- always uses the doggy door *He learns quickly and fears the water squirt bottle. Lol * Very affectionate and loves attention - he puts his head on your lap for snuggles * Will sit and shake for a treat * Highly food motivated and learns quickly * Rides nicely in the car * he enjoys the creek even I colder weather he wades in and sticks his whole face in the water * walks on a leash using a head halter, and that will go with him. This loving and loyal boy would love either an active owner or a home with a large yard. Another large or med dog to play with would be a bonus. Likely NO CATS - he is part hunting dog. He would absolutely do best in a home where there are NOT a lot of “strange” people in and out - though he’s seeming to acclimate to it here. His adoption fee is sponsored. No fee to approved home. He is neutered and microchipped. Can you help this boy? If you cannot adopt can you foster? Shelter description: Chase is a 1 - 2 yr old male Shepherd mix. He has a high energy level, so he will need plenty of daily exercise. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called to stay by his person. He loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Chase does pull on a leash, but this can be resolved with obedience training. He is food motivated, and knows the command sit and shake. He mixes well in a kennel with other dogs, but is not a fan of cats in the shelter environment. You can call or go to the Joplin Humane for more information. Or text or call me if you like. I can give you the details of how he is in the home.
