Hello. I have a 1 year old australian shepherd - border collie mix. His name is Kiko. I got him at 8 weeks old and trained him to be my hiking dog, as I spend most of my day hiking. Unfortunately, Kiko has severe reactivity issues. He has a bite history of one level 2 bite, as well as lunges. If he so much as sees someone across the street, he will start to growl and lunge, but if I have people in the backyard with him and throw a ball, he will calm down and just want to play. I cannot afford training at the level he needs it. I also don't have the time to exercise him as I spend the majority time hiking for my college classwork and independent studies. I have been emailing trying to find someone to take him in and has the resources to get him trained. He is a great and loving dog to my partner and I, as well as my parents who I introduced him too. But unfortunately, he is too unpredictable to go on hikes with me. He is fixed, and up to date on his shots.
I have contacted many shelters and they reccomended behavior euthanasia and I feel like he has a chance to be rehabilitated. When my father watched him, he introduced the dog to different people and the dog was just fine.
I am looking for a trainer or someone who has experience with aggressive dogs to adopt him. He comes with all of his supplies. A crate, muzzle, leash, multiple collars, food, treats, Kong, lick Matt, everything.
