Description

Historically, what little women have been told about menopause has been shrouded in fear, shame and the cultural norms of ageism. We are on a mission to change that. We have specifically curated a team of women business owners local to Wilmington who are either in, going through, or done with this phase of life. They have all chosen health service careers that help women to move through this challenge with grace, strength and knowledge. We invite you to join our integrative panel of health and wellness practitioners for a FREE afternoon of connection, education and inspiration that will set you on the path to experiencing this change with understanding, knowledge, confidence and control. Each of us will be speaking in the classroom for 10-15 minutes with a brief period for questions, as well as have our tables set up outside the classroom for individual interactions. There will be a raffle with prizes from all of the speakers, and activities and events to sign up for from them as well. Read to the end for our comprehensive list of expert speakers, and we encourage you to find and follow them on Instagram and Facebook, so you are familiar with them before the event. Each provider will also be featured in the Facebook event, and will welcome questions there to help us customize our presentations to your interests. Menopause is not a disease or a condition, but simply another hormonal phase and transition that women go through in order to continue the existence of the human race. As hormones drive all function in the human body, it becomes clear that all functions can be impacted. Sleep, fitness, pain, sexual intimacy, nutrition, emotional and mental resilience , bone density, heart function, urinary and bowel function, temperature regulation, skin, etcetcetcetc can change in ways we never knew or expected. And we have just been told it is about hot flashes. It's about so much more, as you can see from the list. Not everyone experiences all of these changes. Not everyone is debilitated by them. But many are. If you are blessed to live into your fifties as a woman, you are guaranteed to go through the menopause transition. Like any other shift we go through as our hormones change, it is best to head into it armed with knowledge and awareness , and the tools to prevent and/or address any of the issues that can come with it. We are educated (minimally, really) about menstruaton and fertility, about pregnancy and birth, now it's time to learn about the menopause transition and how you can best manage yours. Before is better than later in this instance. The average age of menopause is in the early fifties, but we must remember the transition and hormonal changes can begin ten to fifteen years before that. The better handle you can get on managing the things that can impact how you feel as you go through it, the better. We invite you to begin your education now, and allow us to help you navigate through whatever this change looks like for you.
