Description
Djana’s Little School was founded over 11 years ago with one mission: to link loving, child-focused care with healthy living and eating styles. I, Djana Gacaj, was an elementary school teacher for 22 years in my home country of Albania, and after 9 years in America, I found my way back to my passion; working with children. I earned my National Child Development Association certificate in 2013, and I participate in yearly training and education to provide your child with quality care. Monday through Friday, I provide care for a group of 3-5 children, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 11 years. My hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and my location is in South Minneapolis. I currently have openings for infants and toddlers: ages 6 months to 4 years. In my small home daycare setting, you will find that everything is centered around your child’s needs. Reading, singing, drawing, and playing are essential parts of each day. Both indoor and outdoor play are key to my program, and weather-appropriate activities also happen daily. Growing your child through sensory-motor play, socio-emotional learning, and dramatic play is a huge focus of care, and I use age-appropriate curriculums to engage your child. Nutrition and providing your child with healthy, all-organic, homemade food is a priority of mine. Cooked daily, much of my food is grown in my backyard garden, and I use a variety of recipes, foods, and spices to introduce your child to new flavors and tastes. I also work with special requests, like allergies, gluten sensitivities, and vegetarian needs. Each child’s development style is different, and I individualize my care to help your child thrive. Potty training, manners, and sleep schedules are all things I collaborate with parents on to help your child succeed. I also teach basic Italian, and work on fostering your child’s interests; toys, activities, and curriculum is adjusted to fit my group. If you are interested in learning more or finding out if my daycare is the right fit for your child, I would love to hear from you! I conduct phone calls, interviews, and meet-and-greets to help you get to know me and my program better.
