Suminagashi (墨 流 し or “floating ink”) is the process of marbling plain paper with water and ink to transform it into something vibrant and colorful. It originated in Japan as early as the 12th century. This Sunday at SCRAP, we'll be practicing our marbling technique, and crafters may choose to keep their creations as wall art or transform them into something new, like a greeting card or sign!
To reserve your spot/seats in before the event, tickets can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite for a slight discount ($7.50 plus fees). SCRAP prioritizes access to affordable art materials and expressions, so if the ticket price poses a hardship, please donate whatever you can through the donation ticket type on Eventbrite. You can also purchase tickets (or donate what you can) in the store on the day of the event, though capacity limits of our space might mean that you will not be guaranteed a seat/spot.
