The 12th Annual Nebraska Excavation Safety Summit is a FREE educational event that brings stakeholders in excavation safety together to support the common goal of damage prevention and safe digging. A variety of sessions led by industry experts will be offered throughout the day as well as sponsor/vendor booths displaying industry products and services, and much more. Rulon Gardner, University of Nebraska alum, faced a real-life David and Goliath situation when he was pitted against Russian legend Alexander Karelin as a member of the 2000 US Olympic wrestling team. Against the odds, Rulon emerged as the victor, earning a gold medal in what has been described as one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history. In his presentation, Rulon will share riveting stories from throughout his life, including stories about his childhood as an underdog, the extreme training sessions he underwent throughout his wrestling career, his historic Olympic match, and his incredible survival of two near-death experiences – all of which show the power of turning negative moments into character-building experiences. The Excavator Rodeo is an equipment skills test/competition using mini excavators to demonstrate your proficiency in using the machine safely. Prizes are awarded for the best scores and annual winners names are displayed on the Nebraska Excavation Safety Summit plaque. To participate/compete in the Excavator Rodeo, sign up for a time slot on the day of the event in the rodeo area. LOCATOR RODEO: Calling all locators! Put your skills to the test in this year’s locator rodeo. The top scoring winner will win a trip to compete at the 2023 International Utility Locate Rodeo this December in Springfield, Missouri.
