May has been nationally recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month since 1949. Since the beginning of the pandemic, in 2020, there has been a dramatic increase in demand for mental health support, as well as a decrease in traditional treatment options and practitioners available to the public. New and confusing barriers have been faced by all in the past few years.
MAYDAY! Mental Health Awareness Arts Festival was created in response to these issues. We offer an educational and entertaining event to bring attention to artists, advocates, professionals, and resources available to help vulnerable individuals and families; and demonstrate the therapeutic benefits of art.
Free to participate; this event includes presentations from counselors, advocates, and community service organizations--as well as local artists and entrepreneurs--sharing the arts and our hearts through public speaking, printed information, live entertainment, and visual displays.
