MIAMI, FL — There was little resistance as the Crimson Tide rolled to an 18th national championship Monday with a 52-24 win over Ohio State at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Heisman Trophy-winning Tide receiver DeVonta Smith put on another signature performance before being removed with a hand injury, snagging 12 passes for 214 yards and 3 scores. This puts him above legendary coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant, who won six career titles during his illustrious stint, for all-time championships, with seven. Apart from the expected performance from Smith, Heisman frontrunner and Tide quarterback Mac Jones also logged a memorable night, going 36-for-44 and 464 yards, finishing with five touchdown passes on the night and no interceptions. On the ground, running back Najee Harris managed 75 yards on 20 carries and two scores, making the offensive firepower too much for the Buckeyes to handle. "This was a team that was always together," Saban said following the game, underscoring the family dynamic of the 2020 Crimson Tide. Follow Patch here for updates or on Facebook and Twitter.
