NORTHPORT, AL — Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon was hospitalized Sunday after testing positive for the coronavirus earlier in the day. The news comes after Herndon's wife, Kay, was just released from the hospital Friday following a lengthy stay of her own after testing positive for the virus. He then said he would be having more tests and ultrasounds conducted on Monday morning. The family has received an outpouring of support since Kay's hospitalization and is once again asking for the community to keep their family in their thoughts. "Pray for Kay who is still recuperating and our children as they worry about their parents," he said on Facebook Monday morning. Herndon has taken a vocal stand for public health and safety after being sworn in for his third non-consecutive term, warning those in the community in December to exercise caution throughout the holidays and moving forward.
