Recent events have motivated us to bring back a past event community favorite the “Black Love: Symposium & Soirée” – which pre-pandemic was held yearly, around Valentine's Day. The 2023 Black Love: Symposium and Soirée will feature a moderated discussion focusing on self-care, mental health, love for self, love for each other, and love for community. Following the rich discussion, we will have a soirée (dance with food and drinks provided to attendees). To be clear, singles and couples are all welcome! Our plan is to partner with a husband-and-wife team; comedian Chris Alan will host, and his wife, image consultant, Khalilah Jones will conduct a couple's fashion show. While there is no admission fee for the event, many of our gatherings are supported by attendees through donations. We then use the donation monies to support a local, mission-aligned benefactor.
