Jump into handmade by learning how to hand embroider and repair some of your favorite clothes so they don’t end up in the landfill! You can embrace the life that your clothes have given you and breathe new life into them with colors, stitch patterns, patches, and fabric! It’s a great way to honor and add to a piece of clothing instead of trying to hide its imperfections. With the use of both patches and exposed stitches, you’ll learn how to create a unique design to add to your mended pieces! You will receive a denim handkerchief, or you can have your own project for mending on hand for this class. You’ll get hands-on, step-by-step instruction and all of the materials you'll need to learn how to artfully mend! In this class you'll learn: - The tools and techniques associated with artful mending through embroidery. - Designs and patterns that you can use as you progress with your stitches and how to transfer them. - Several stitch patterns and how/when to use them. You'll also learn that a few stitches can go a long way! - How to work with patches and incorporate them into your mending. - How to start and finish your embroidery project (note- you might not finish in class, but you'll learn how to when you are ready).
