Here is our latest jam report. If you'd like to join us in future call two-nine-five, seven-eight-five-seven. *********************************************************************************** Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023--Happy birthday to Charo (72, 74, or 76, there is some dispute about her year of birth); we remember big band drummer Gene Krupa (1909-Oct. 16, 1973), Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-April 4, 1968), guitarist Earl Hooker (1930-April 21, 1970), Captain Beefheart (1941-Dec. 17, 2010), and Ronnie Van Zant (1948-Oct. 20, 1977); and we note some more recent losses: the only child of Elvis, Lisa Marie Presley (Feb. 1, 1968-Jan. 12, 2023), and drummer Robbie Bachman (Feb. 18, 1953-Jan. 12, 2023). OUR JANUARY JAM was today, Sunday, Jan. 15th. We never did succeed in finding a drummer, despite all of the drummers that we have on the listserve. We talked about keeping an electronic set of drums there at the center, for drummers to use without having to schlep and set up their gear, if that would be an inducement. Would it? So, no drummer, but once again Ricky Ricardo stopped in to play congas for us, and he brought along his lovely wife, Lucy. We had seven participants, and we played some new songs. The players were: Joe Celentano: guitar & vocals Jordan Dollak: guitar, bass, & vocals Randy Fredner: guitar & vocals Phil Springer: guitar Gerry Therrien: keys & vocals Tom Vandever: guitar Aaron Feldman: vocals & percussion The songs that we played were:1. Something: The Beatles 2. Gimme Some Money: Spinal Tap 3. Good Loving: Rascals, in tribute to the late Dino Danelli 4. Anymore: Travis Tritt 5. What Is And What Should Never Be : Led Zeppelin 6. Mannish Boy: Muddy Waters IF YOU'D LIKE TO SUGGEST A NEW SONG for us to do next month it's better to get your requests in sooner rather than later in order to give folks enough time to learn them before the next jam. We'll add it to our expanding song list. If you have sheet music or chord sheets I'll put them out in attachments so folks can make copies. It's also helpful if you print out extra chord sheets to distribute. IF YOU'RE COMING TO THE NEXT JAM pick a new song that you'd like for us to play and a couple from our Repertoire List and send your requests to me for inclusion on the requests list. WHEN AND WHERE: We get together from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Independence Resource Center, 815 Cherry Avenue in Charlottesville, a little east of ninth Street on the north side of the street.
