Metal guitarist looking to form group

34 year old guitarist just moved to Alexandria looking to start an original project. Music has been a part of my life since childhood. I studied music in college a bunch, although I’m not super great with theory, but know enough to write and communicate. I mainly focus on instrument-driven metaI like The Contortionist or Protest the Hero, but my style is closer to Vildhjarta and Misha Mansoor’s Bulb. Classical and Jazz are in my repertoire as well, although I tend to lean to more heavy distortion tones in my riffs. Really just looking to write music with someone and hope something clicks and eventually play live gigs. The goal is to have fun with friends and community, not looking to revolutionize anything or break ourselves trying to be number one. There’s too many styles I admire for this post, if I could name what I’m going for I’d say something like if Cloudkicker and Vildhjarta fused together. A solid balance of groove and technicality, but also haunting and relaxing in a strange way. I have a very open mind and would love to jam with a group again. I own enough equipment to play whatever gig / practice efficiently. Own several guitars and amps and have been building my own in-house studio and could possibly host jam sessions until we decide on renting an official studio (or just use the drummers house) Looking forward to chatting!
