Did you start a new army for the new year? Do you have an older army that you haven't played in a while and you're feeling a little rusty? Are you a brand new player with a Combat Patrol box that Nanna got you for Christmas? If you answered yes to any of those questions, this escalation tournament series is for you!!! We will kick this 3 part series off with 500 point armies paired against each other in bloody, wargame skirmish action! Then in each following month, we'll add 250 points to the army size ending with a 1000 point tournament in March. While it isn't required to sign up for each tournament in advance to be eligible to participate in Part 1 (who knows their schedules that far ahead), I would very much love to see your armies grow month after month. I'm selfish, I know. 12 entrants will fight to win top honors during 6 rounds of play. Each round will be 60 minutes long and opponent matching will be round-robin with efforts made to minimize the chance of playing against the same Codex army more than once. If there are at least 3 sets of entrants with the same faction then one round will be a mirror-match at the TO's discretion. The winner of each game will add the difference in scores between themselves and their opponents to their overall tally. Warzone Nephilim rules will be used for this event and each army will start with 3 CP's. We will be using the 44x30 table size and the Patrol missions from the 9th edition rulebook in addition to those used in the Patrol sized missions from narrative play (with some modifications). This will allow us to have a different mission for each round. All models must be Games Workshop models - 3D printed models will not be allowed. Printed bits to add flair or customization are allowed but must not be a replacement for the GW model or identifying wargear. Adding an icon to a shoulder pad, a head swap, flame effects to gun barrels, backpacks/pouches/kits/candles/etc… are all acceptable. Replacing a heavy bolter with a 3D printed hefty boltgun or a Space Marine with a 3D printed Galaxy Warrior is not acceptable. No painting requirements - Fully painted and based armies will receive a 30 point bonus to their overall score after all 6 rounds are completed and tallied. Battle-ready is the requirement to participate in the Best Painted competition. Codex release requirements - Any faction codex must have been released for individual sale for at least two weeks prior to being used. For example, the Cadia Stands box set was released which included the new Astra Militarum codex but the codex itself hasn't been released for individual sale as of this writing. Given that information, the Astra Militarum faction is not yet eligible to use their newest codex. Once that codex has been released for individual sale and a minimum of 14 days has passed since that time, that faction will be eligible to use their codex for tournament play.
