A full day lecture on challenges firefighters face when responding to incidents at Tall and Large Buildings Under Construction & Occupied. A big city problem with often small city resources available. Those in attendance will leave with pages worth of tips and tricks when operating at these or similar structures. Case studies, firefighter safety and contemporary fire tactics will be presented.
JERRY TRACY served 31 years with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), retiring as a battalion chief. He began as a firefighter in Engine 90 in the Bronx and Ladder 108 in Brooklyn. Lieutenant assigned Ladder 4 in Manhattan and captain of Tower Ladder 35. He formed and became the first captain of Squad 18. A pioneer researcher in the areas of high-rise operations. He was the catalyst to the research conducted by NIST, UL, and NYU Polytechnic Institue on smoke management and fire behavior in high-rise buildings, most specifically wind-driven fires. He has published many articles on fire service topics. He is co-author of the book High-Rise Buildings- Understanding the Vertical Challenges.
A recipient of numerous awards and achievements to include the 2007 FDIC Keynote speaker, 2016 Fire Engineering Tom Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award, 2017 FDIC International Keynote speaker.
