Description
Eccentric late 40s singer/songwriter/guitarist/bassist looking for writing and recording collaboration. I'm mainly interested in writing songs, recording at home, and promoting releases online (e.g. MP3 sales, streaming, making music videos, etc.). Spent most of the '90s playing in the underground music scene of Dayton, OH that spawned Kim Deal, Guided By Voices, and Brainiac. Got burnt out on gigging by 2010. Experimenting in a home studio has always been more interesting to me.
Tip of the iceberg influences: Beachwood Sparks, The Beatles, Beck, The Church, The Clientele, The Doors, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Radiohead, The Sundays, Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd, Ween, XTC, etc.
Drawn to psychedelia and related sub-genres (dream pop, jangle pop, experimental, etc.), but I can go in a lot of different directions. Interested in writing well-crafted songs. Also interested in a reciprocal collaborative process where songwriting credits are split equally. I don't mind taking a backseat to other singers, guitarists, or bassists as long as things end up being fairly reciprocal.
Devoted to the DIY ethic and most other aspects of the punk ethic. Not so much musically or stylistically, but the punk ethos has definitely impacted my philosophies on music.
I've been home-recording since 1992. Running Pro Tools in a small room with a chill atmosphere. I don't need much to create excellent recordings that are layered and very clear.
Looking for people who are willing to show up weekly for a few hours of crafting songs, recording, and putting the finished material out there. Potentially compatible with music lovers who are bright and creative/artistic. I'm moderately liberal, and would prefer to invest my time in people who share a similar worldview.
