On Saturday, January 28th at Backlot Studio & Workspace, award-winning documentary producer Jeffrey Brown (No No: A Dockumentary, Punk in Africa, Nothing Stays The Same, Cowboys) will lead a full one-day class to provide an affordable, down-to-earth approach to story, funding, production, festival strategy, and distribution to documentary filmmakers of all levels. Hosted in partnership with Backlot Studio & Workspace, this program grants participants the opportunity to speak to top local documentarians in a friendly, intimate environment. America, playing international festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, Berlinale, IDFA, SXSW, Tribeca, Rotterdam, Jeonju, NYFF, among others, and being released in cinemas internationally as well as on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, PBS, ESPN, AMC/Sundance Global, Starz and others. He taught documentary film at the Prague Film School and has presented his Master Class seminar to groups around the globe. Recent docs include: No No: A Dockumentary (Sundance 2014 / Netflix, Showtime) on Dock Ellis’s legendary no-hitter, Through The Repellent Fence (MoMA’s Doc Fortnight / SXSW 2017) on Native American art collective Post Commodity’s artwork that straddles the U.S. - Mexico border, Nothing Stays the Same (Music Doc Prize – SXSW 2019), Cowboys (Audience Award -- Austin FF 2019) and Battle for the Heart of Texas (Earth X 2022) on Kinder Morgan's Permian Highway Pipeline. Having lived and produced films internationally, he has extensive experience with foreign markets.
