LE SALON is back for a second season of chamber music, produced by the UL Lafayette School of Music and the UL Lafayette Alumni Association. Join us for wine, refreshments, and music in the historic and beautiful Heymann house, now Alumni Center.
For our third event of the series, “Everything new: jazz and contemporary music," we offer fresh sounds for the new year. Dr. Garth Alper, professor of all things jazz, and new flute faculty member, Dr. Melody Wan, plus other guests, will present a fantastic and adventurous evening.
The evening is modeled after the French salon tradition of the 18-19th century where friends, intellectuals, poets, musicians, and philosophers were hosted by society leaders for lecture and entertainment. Music was often performed by members of the family or the composers themselves.
The beautiful and historic Alumni Center, a home modeled in the French provincial architectural style and formerly owned by Maurice Heymann, acts as the perfect setting for this evening of music and refreshment. The concert will take place in the formal living room and features a specially-designed circular atrium, from which Mrs. Germain Rosenthal Heymann would play for guests on her grand piano.
Doors open with refreshments at 6:00 p.m. The music will begin at 7:00 p.m.
See you in the Salon...
