Experience an evening of exquisite food, entrancing music, and immersive historical storytelling at the Fête du Voyageur in Prairie du Chien. On Saturday, February 18, the historic Dousman House will be the venue for the kick-off celebration of the 350th anniversary of the Marquette and Jolliet expedition of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers.
Partake in a meal the voyageurs would have dreamed of:
Delectable hors d'oeuvres and a signature cocktail “French 76”
Dinner dishes including: succulent meat pie, wild rice with herbs, and more
Thoughtfully curated selection of fine cheeses
Heavenly French crepes for dessert
After dinner drink of coffee with Irish cream liqueur
Throughout the evening, musicians will play traditional instruments and the songs that would have been sung by the paddling voyageurs. Historian and master storyteller, Mike Douglas, will bring to life the passion and purpose of renowned explorers, Marquette and Jolliet. You will learn about the challenges they faced and conquered with the help of French-Canadian voyageurs and Native American tribes who lived along the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers.
Do not miss the opportunity to celebrate and be part of the rich and continuing history of our region at the Fête du Voyageur in Prairie du Chien!
