Description

Join us on Tuesday, February 7 at 7 pm at Booksweet (1729 Plymouth Rd., Ann Arbor) for The Trans Agenda: In Conversation with Sophie Labelle. This event is open to the public and tickets are $5. 100% of the ticket proceeds for this event will be donated to Stand With Trans, empowering and supporting trans youth and their loved ones. Sophie Labelle (she/her) is the French-Canadian author of the hugely successful and influential webcomic Assigned Male (which was collected in book-form in 2021 as The Best of Assigned Male), the beloved middlegrade graphic novel series Ciel, the YA novel Wish Upon a Satellite (2022), and children's picture books including My Dad Thinks I'm a Boy?! (2020). Her latest book is The Trans Agenda: Official Propaganda of the radical and powerful Trans Lobby! (2022). Labelle is active in the transgender rights movement and speaks on the subjects of trans history and transfeminism. Her newest book, The Trans Agenda: Official Propaganda for the Radical and Powerful Trans Lobby (2022) offers a collection of smart comic strips about the trans experience aimed at empowering the trans people and informing strong allyship. According to Labelle, the book might also "anger your local TERF and inspire a rant from your neighborhood crypto bro about pronouns." After the conversation, there will be a Q&A and a book signing with Sophie. We are SO EXCITED to host her and learn more about her creative work and activism. Curious to know what Sophie's been reading? Check out her bookstack (which also includes a selection of her titles for easy one-stop shopping).  About your ticket to this event //  The shop will only be open to event ticket-holders starting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, 2/7. We will be checking tickets at the door. As capacity is limited for this event, if you are unable to use your ticket due to unforeseen events, you can return it to open up a seat for someone else, although your $5 donation to Stand with Trans is non-refundable.  Learn more about health and safety at Booksweet.
