Join the Illinois Learn to Hunt team for an in-person workshop all about coyotes. This field workshop will be held on February 4th, 2023 at Des Plaines State Fish and Wildlife Area from 1 till 5:30 PM. Exact meeting location will be sent 1 week prior to the event. Come out and learn the basics with us about the diverse and exciting suite of critters known as the “furbearers”. Registration required. Must be 18+ years of age to attend. This introductory level workshop will cover everything you need to know to get started hunting coyotes. From coyote ecology, calling, hunting methods, and utilization, we will try to cover it all. With live calling demonstrations in the field on a simulated hunt. We won’t be shooting, but we may just call something in!? With increased opportunity and under-utilized wildlife, furbearers hold a lot of potential for new hunters: Challenging Quarry = Possibly the toughest animal to hunt or trap in Illinois in our opinion so YES Opportunity = YES, YES, and YES. Robust populations, fewer hunters pursuing, day or night Utilization = YES, we will cover skinning and processing and ways you can utilize coyotes. Dress properly for adverse weather conditions as portions of this event are scheduled to be in the field. If weather is not condusive for ourdoor activities, we do have an indoor space available to utilize. Wild game snacks will also be available at this event.
