Description

To the viewer of this ad, I am quadriplegic, male, 50, and have been in a wheelchair since I was 15. I need to hire 2 people, a morning aid and a night aid. For this position I need someone available to work 3 hours in the morning, assist with showering, dressing, transferring me into my wheelchair or shower chair, use the shower to bathe, some light cooking and cleaning, and may occasionally need to drive me to appointments (more time will be given if it exceeds the 3 hours). The other position is for a night aid. I require someone to help me prepare for sleep for the night. This involves taking some meds, putting toothpaste on my tooth brush, then transfer me from my wheelchair to my bed, undress me, and finish getting me ready for the night. The one caveat is I need someone willing to assist me between 11 and 12 at night. I am a night owl, and it would be preferable if you are as well. Pay would be thru the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services. The number of nights you'd work is up to you, and I may hire another person to work the days you do not wish to. I know this job isn’t for everyone, so apply if you’re genuinely interested in helping others, flexible, and don’t mind doing transfers. The people I am looking to hire: Reliable and Trustworthy Male. (I just find that men usually transfer me easier, no offense intended to any women who view this) 25-50 years old Strong, taller is better, but not entirely necessary Previous healthcare experience is appreciated, but not necessary. I’ve worked with many whom had no prior experience. Able to pass a background check (The Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services makes this a prerequisite before I can hire anyone) Reliable transportation is absolutely mandatory. This means you own a car and you don't have to share it. A positive outlook on life and a good attitude are also important. Your life shouldn’t be very chaotic, though I understand some chaos as my family can be dysfunctional as well. This requires you take care of yourself. You should possess a solid work ethic and understand I can’t start my day or get to bed without your assistance. This can be a fun opportunity and possibly even rewarding. I need whoever I hire to respect the job expectations, and if they do, we may become good friends. Thank you in advance for viewing this ad. Scott
