Description

Curious about getting into birding? Looking for a fun morning out in nature? Already an avid birder? If any of these is a "yes," this outing is for you! The Sonoma County Feminist Bird Club will be hosting a bird stroll/sit on January 21st in Bodega Bay's coastal wetlands. Wetlands are a great place to find birds in winter, and we will be looking for birds around the seasonal ponds, mudflats, and salt marshes here. Everyone is welcome! If you choose to stroll, the trail is a short, gentle loop trail with views of the wetlands. Participants can hike the trail towards Doran Beach, or sit and observe from trailside benches or foldable chairs (your own). Before the event starts, we'll ask folks if they prefer sitting vs. strolling. Accessibility note: the trail is gravel, generally flat, and moderately accessible for wheelchairs. This is an opportunity to meet fellow birders, learn a bit about the coastal ecosystem and its birds, or simply connect with nature. 🌱 One registration per person, please. This is to ensure we don't bring too large a group and to conform tp ethical birding practices. If the registration is full and you need to come with an extra person for transportation purposes, please email us at [email protected] We will email you the meeting location after registration. What to bring Warm clothing in layersWater / hot tea / coffeeBinoculars* (optional, if you have extra pairs and don't mind sharing them that would be amazing!)If you are planning to stroll: good shoes for mud/uneven terrainIf you are planning to sit: outdoor chair or anything you want to sit on* We are working on getting extra pairs to lend to people for future events. About the Sonoma County Feminist Bird Club The Sonoma County FBC is a bird-watching club dedicated to promoting inclusivity in birding while fundraising and providing a safe opportunity for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, and women to connect with the natural world.
