Description
Dimitri, approx. 9 years old (also responds to "Handsome") was a cat I rescued from a family who had multiple hyper German Shepherds. He was born into that household and never got over his fear of the dogs.
It took about two days before he came out of his room on his own and immediately demanded cuddles and his belly rubbed. I've never had a cat want their belly rubbed the way he does. Perhaps he picked it up during his short stint at the previous household watching the dogs.
He is a cuddler. When other folks come over, he is very personable. He will take belly rubs from anyone willing to give them. He is not needy to the point of being obnoxious. If there is anyone home and sitting down on a sofa, he will immediately find a spot on or near your lap for cuddles. When he is satisfied with his level of cuddles, he will get up and do his cat things.
He is best in a home with no other cats or dogs. He doesn't fight and he never hits the other cats, however he wants the house to be his, so he will bully the other cats to the point they develop anxiety and stay away from him and out of view.
He is excellent with kids and people, including elderly (especially due to his low maintenance). He is good for all size homes, including studios. He doesn't need another cat around to be social with, so you never have to worry about him being lonely. If you do find the occasional mouse about the property, he has no problem taking care of that for you! He is a good hunter.
