Description

This mini workshop will give you the basics on how experienced coaches develop training programs for runners to peak towards a goal race. Coach Heike McNeil will cover topics like how many miles you should run and what paces to run on different days to stimulate different energy systems. And most importantly, Heike will cover how you synthesize all of these factors into a cohesive plan that actually helps you accomplish your running goals and increase your fitness. The next three workshops will be focused on injury prevention and mobility with Jesse Klein, DPT (Jan. 30), proper fueling for health and performance with Shira Evans, RD (Feb. 6) and sports psychology (Feb. 13). Registration coming soon. Dr. Heike McNeil, Ph.D. is a Professor of Chemistry at Bushnell University and the head coach of Run Hub's Big Timber Running Club. An accomplished runner and athlete herself, Heike coached the NCU cross country and track teams from 2005-2018. During her time coaching at NCU, Heike’s teams were consistently ranked in the top 25 nationally, including a national championship for her women’s cross country team in 2015. Heike ran collegiately at Linfield College, did triathlons post collegiately, and currently competes in trail and ultra events as well as racing her mountain bike. Heike loves to help athletes at all levels chase their dreams and see them reach their full potential.
