The Lead Carpenter position is responsible for the management of residential construction projects ranging in size and scope, from small bath remodels to the construction of custom new homes. Your main goals are to build projects within the set budget and develop a good relationship with the client with the end result being a profitable project and a happy customer. - Essential Functions - • Proactive problem-solving. • Nothing less than our company standard and excellent quality workmanship. • Clear and regular communication with customers, supervisor, and staff. • Completion of all necessary production reporting as required. • Prompt attendance at all required staff and department meetings. • Willingness to aggressively resolve conflicts and issues promptly and effectively with a “win-win” mindset. • Ongoing development of improved systems and procedures. • Create a working environment that brings the best out in other employees and that uses time as efficiently as possible. • Be knowledgeable of all carpentry techniques related to residential construction and remodeling and/or be responsible to gain knowledge in areas lacking. • Review and understanding of Oxland Builders Methods & Materials manual and be cognizant of necessary changes, additions, or omissions. • A winning attitude in all circumstances. - Job Functions - o Job Set-Up o Review specifications and drawings with the Project Manager to gain familiarity of the project and/or the days tasks. o Job Expediting o Facilitate subcontractor needs and communicate issues to the Project Manager if necessary o Coordinate material deliveries with the Project Manger to ensure optimal efficiency. o Be responsible for jobsite cleanliness at all times. o Be responsible for jobsite safety and security of homeowner’s belongings. o Oversee job production procedures and maintain the company standards for excellent quality workmanship. o Resolve job-related problems including structural issues, procedures, clean-up, and protocol. o Maintain contact with customers while on any job assigned to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. o Keep Project Manager updated daily on job progress, problems, scheduling conflicts, and change orders. o Supervising all work done by other employees to ensure conformance with company standards, specifications, and proper time tracking. o Establish good working relationships with other team members. o Foster positive communications and relationships with clients and vendors. o Keep up to date on industry trends and developments. o Adhere to company policies and procedures. Actively participate in meetings as requested. o Other duties as assigned. - Qualifications & Physical Requirements- • Have 5 years of carpenter experience. • Be well organized and motivated. • Proficient speaking, writing, and communicating in the English language. • Competent mathematical skills. • Working knowledge of computers including email, word processing, and spreadsheets. • Familiar with construction project tracking software and a willingness to learn with a goal of proficiency for all projects. • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. • Be able to lift loads of 60 lbs. • Ability to work on ladders and roofs up to 50 feet off the ground. • Must be able to use a computer and see color. • Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
