'For the Love of Etna' Valentine's Day Fundraiser

ABOUT THE EVENT This fundraiser is held at Atithi Studios (atithistudios.com), a newly opened gallery and event space in Sharpsburg, Etna's close neighbor and collaborator. The space is the perfect setting for a night out of supporting your community, being with loved ones, and having a good time. The ticket includes an open bar with three specialty cocktails and mocktails as well as catered appetizers. Entertainment at the event will include live performances from Jaime Castillo (soloist, Colombian-Venezuelan folk harpist, performs a fusion of joropo and Latin crossover jazz) and Kenny Stockard (performing with his band, performs with a fresh take on traditional R&B). Multiple activities will take place at the event including an art auction and a short program to share about the project. ABOUT THE PROJECT This fundraiser supports the renovation and construction of the future Etna library. Since the completion of the nationally-awarded Etna EcoDistrict Plan in 2019, the Etna Community Organization (ECO) and the Borough of Etna have been diligently working to acquire a site, develop a design, and build partnerships. So far, ECO acquired a site in the heart of Etna's business district, the historic Ochse Building at 341-343 Butler St. In addition, ECO has also teamed up with community library experts, GBBN (architect) and Volpatt Construction (general contractor), to complete the Design Development phase and are on schedule to complete Construction Documents in 2023. Most importantly, the Borough and ECO have formed a close partnership with Millvale Borough and Millvale Community Library to develop a new library system known as the Rivertown Library System. The partnership will allow Etna to have professional library services once the building opens. This fundraiser is part of a $3.2 million capital campaign to fund construction and is the first in a series of events to support the project.
