Description
Title said it all. Doom Jazz. The lows of Doom metal and the highs of acid warping 70s style jazz jams. Open to ideas of two guitar and drummer as well. Anything to start playing with other musicians is welcome.
I have a band name, ideas, abilities to merchandise and do art for it. I just want writing partners to help me give it depth.
BRING YOUR OWN IDEAS. I'm tired of the same ol' stuff. Let's do some crazy music.
Originals focusing on heavy and loose ideas. Tool, Primus, Kings X, Rage Against the Machine, Helmet, Deftones. But also, lets go crazy and get Candiria, Cynic, Atheist, Mastodon, Opeth, Gojira style heavy. Lots of dynamics and color for this.
I have SOME theory background but mostly I want free jazz inspired music. Density and dynamics.
I dont want to be a lead guitarist. I want to slide within YOUR riffs as a bassist and YOUR grooves as a drummer.
It's an idea anyway. If anyone is interested, please feel free to message. Even if you message and say "dude, your ideas are crap" I might suggest we Jam so you can school me.
Also, in my 30s, married, have a full time job. Not looking for much yet as career is still very much a thing. Hopefully other 30 year old dudes say "hey man, I'm a banker by day but by night I want to wear a fedora and jam on jazz inspired Naked City tunes" well, I'm your guy. Or I'm stupid. You decide.
FYI. ADDING THIS NOTE SINCE LAST POSTING.
Committing to writing mostly in Drop D. D minor, F major, and modal changes around that. No theory is necessary but i like to start there (90s influence, Helmet, Tool, Rage against the Machine etc). I have tried to compromise around this and its not working for the way i play or write. You can work around this all day but im in drop D with a low A. I just dont see myself changing gauge and setup and losing most of my material around this idea. Please work with me. Im hungry to play with musicians that can help me develop within this sound.
Thank you.
