Description

As your child moves into kindergarten, they will have numerous new learning experiences that spiral up from their experiences this year. For example, as with our Ivy League four-year-old students, kindergarten students will meet and exceed NYS standards through differentiated instruction, small group lessons, and hands-on centers emphasizing cooperative and independent learning while developing sustained engagement practices. Our curriculum is enriched with technology, STEM, balanced literacy, field trips, thematic units, and special projects/events. These projects build problem-solving and real-world applications. Our math program fosters mathematical thinking while developing numeracy, patterns, geometry, classification, quantities and operations, estimation, and graphing. Writing is developed as students learn to listen to sounds in words and apply phonics as they write about experiences and respond to stories using temporary spelling. We use the Fundations Reading Program and Reading A-Z to create the groundwork for life-long literacy. The academic data collected on each student is given to the following year's teacher allowing for a smooth academic transition that builds upon their individual needs.
