TITLE: Assistant Superintendent of Buildings SALARY: JG-21 with salary range of $55,735.82 to $65,916.07 (FY 23) during a ten-year anniversary step progression LOCATION: All Plymouth County Buildings GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs general janitorial duties, custodial work and maintenance duties in connection with the cleaning of County buildings or an assigned work area within a building; performs related work as directed and required. Provide coverage for Superintendent of Buildings in his absence. As union employee, complies with SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Assists and works under the supervision of the Plymouth County Superintendent of Buildings who reviews performance for efficiency and conformance with instructions in accordance with an established work plan. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Work with Superintendent to manage County buildings and properties located in Brockton, Plymouth, Wareham, and Hingham. • Management and distribution of County equipment and supplies with County owned van • Unlicensed plumbing duties, including pulling toilets and snaking drains • Unlicensed electrical duties, including changing light ballasts • Unlicensed carpentry duties, including replacing floors and wood trim • Unlicensed masonry duties, including pouring walls, curbs, repair steps, and other repairs • Minor construction repairs • Painting duties • Includes over site and coverage of team responsibilities and may include: • Clean offices, rooms, corridors, restrooms, and other portions of County owned and operated buildings • Clean, wax, polish, and strip floors • Wash windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures; dust and polish furniture • Empty and clean waste barrels, garbage cans, and other waste containers • Set temperature regulators, maintain furnaces, replace light bulbs, tend central air conditioning • Sweep, sand, clean, and shovel snow from stairs and walks; rake leaves, trim hedges, cut grass and generally maintain outside areas in neat and orderly fashion QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be in good physical condition, able to lift and carry, and perform the duties listed herein. A pre-employment physical examination is required for all new employees. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions • Ability to supervise and give oral and written instructions • Considerable knowledge of cleaning equipment and products required for specific tasks • Considerable knowledge of heating and air conditioning equipment and their operation. • Ability to keep simple records, schedule and assign work, and supervise work to its completion • Experience in building maintenance, cleaning, and operation with good work habits, neatness, attendance, and promptness. • Good driving record Interested persons may apply in writing with a resume and a letter of interest/qualifications for consideration toward this position to Frank Basler, County Administrator, via email at [email protected], Office of the Plymouth County Commissioners, 44 Obery Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 no later than 5 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2023.
