Participants will create multiple spirit dolls in this three-part workshop series. Attendance at all three or at least two of the three sessions is recommended. Session 1 A brief history and visual global narrative of this art formVision and intentionThe basics—creating the foundation(s)Materials provided: Journals, sticks, decorative paper, natural fiber yarns, cotton and wool embroidery flossSession 2 Continuing to embed doll foundations with intentions, herbs, talisman to deepen purpose and meaning Placing and attaching the face (s)Dressing the doll (s)Materials provided: Everything from Session 1 plus ceramic face(s), lavender, sage, beads, fabric, ephemeraSession 3 Finishing your spirit dolls with hair, accessories, hanging materials and/or standsMaterials provided: Everything from Sessions 1 and 2 plus hanging materials and stand optionsGathering of the spirit dolls and their makersMasking is required.
