Description

Wildlife inhabiting or visiting the refuge include resident and wintering birds and water birds such mallard and wood ducks, pied billed grebes, a multitude of coots and the occasional great blue heron. Neary Lagoon includes a wooden pontoon walkway and trail system, allowing a complete circuit around and through the refuge. While there is a public restroom in the park, it is not near our meeting area. Directions: Entering Santa Cruz from the north on SR 1 turn right (west) on Laurel Street and then right on Chestnut Street and proceed to 89 Chestnut Street at the west end of the street and park at the parking meters.
