Description
The composition of this one-day symposium will provide information, literature reviews, surgical interventions, treatment & rehab strategies and pathology of sports-related injuries and conditions. The course will feature up to date surgical procedures, review of anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and treatment strategies to improve outcomes and success for all clinicians in attendance. Course Learning ObjectivesReview anatomy of the ankle, knee, elbow, and shoulder Understand the biomechanics of the elbow and associated mechanisms that lead to injury. Learn about ACL reconstruction techniques & graft choice Understand how to diagnose, treat, and return shoulder injuries that might not follow a typical examination. Understand the mentality of the athlete Recognize signs and symptoms of SCD and how to collectively treat as the healthcare team. Identify the primary factors leading to disordered eating Know how to appropriately evaluate the foot and ankle for instability and other injuries of concern. Be able to understand common surgical procedures for ACL reconstruction Explain anatomical and biomechanical relationship that can lead to elbow dysfunction and injury. Implement nutritional recommendations for athletes to help reduce disordered eating. Understand the importance of nutrition and its direct correlation to athletic performance. Develop methods to approach and treat athletes with mental health issues. Recognize the signs and symptoms of disordered eating Develop an emergency action plan for cardiac events, from the sideline to the clinic Learn about surgical techniques for partial knee replacement. Understand and recognize factors that cause sudden cardiac death in sports. Review methods to reduce injuries to the foot and ankle. Recognize the signs and symptoms of shoulder pain while safely and effectively designing a treatment program Identify sport-specific movements that are high risk for producing ankle, knee, elbow and shoulder injuries. Emphasizing appropriate and timely referral for athletes experiencing mental health issues after injury.
