Learn the Art of Fly TyingJoin us at the Big Table to explore the art of fly tying with local Trout Unlimited president (and great guy) Chase Howard. We will explore the tools and techniques used for fly tying, various materials, and their uses. As always, refreshments will be provided, and the class will be a relaxed, come as you are event. No experience is needed - you don't even need to be a fly fisher! If you are a grizzled ol' fly tyer that has been doing this since hooks were made of fish bones you will still be able to hone your skills and practice new techniques.
A total of three sessions will be held. Come to one session or all three to learn techniques on creating different flies. No worries if you missed a session or two - we will catch you up! No fly tyer left behind!
DetailsAll tools and materials provided. If you have your own tools you are welcome to bring them. It is always better to learn on the tools you already have. Refreshments provided. Beer, water and snacks will be available. If you need a fancy single malt scotch you will have to bring it - but you must bring enough to share with the instructor. Fly Tying involves really small stuff. Make sure to bring any readers, magnifying lenses, or binoculars needed to help you better see your work. You will take home any flys you tied and some extra materials in case you catch the fly tying BUG! 🤪Low pressure atmosphere with plenty of friendly faces and hands-on learning.
