In collaboration with So & So Bookstore and Red Bud Writing, VAE Raleigh presents Vanguard Social’s inaugural community art-making workshop. Folx are invited to participate in an opportunity to create art and explore transformative solutions to community problems.
“Vanguard Social: Visions of Southern Queer Resistance,” highlights the works of Southern QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous People of Color) artists as a means of empowering and uplifting their lived experience. This exhibition places emphasis on the pivotal role of QTBIPOC creatives in the push for liberation, while also highlighting the need for solidarity throughout communities that are unequivocally marginalized by way of systemic oppression.
Featuring artists: Amuri Morris, Charmaine Hurst, Essi Sings, Gemynii, Greta Boney, Karena "Kidd" Graves, Lars Massey-Guzman, Lindsey Shin, Liz Williams, Luc White, Sage Lowery, and Shin-Yiing Yeung.
This project is apart of VAE Raleigh's annual Collaborative Curatorial Fellowship; the Collaborative Curatorial Fellowship is sponsored by VAE Raleigh.
