"Citizenship involves taking an active role in improving our communities” (Ameri Corp 2023). As we recognize the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday 2023, this "call-to-action program" seeks to define today's tenets that are needed to help us move forward and further attempts to attain a society where all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race as well as on factors that recognizes and respects the sanctity and uniqueness of human beings for the betterment of mankind. In addition to inspiring music, children's participants, and lunch for all, the program features several community members coming from different perspectives - Bishop Melvin Jenkins, Victory Christian Assembly, Ms. Ira Redd, Indiana County Law Enforcement Liaison, Community Guidance Center, Mr. Michael Vuckovich, Superintendent, Indiana Area School District on thoughts of getting to the "there" today and tomorrow. It also brings the community together for fellowship, constructive thinking, and indulging in their thoughts of moving communities "From Here to There." The solution to this question is within each one of us. With opportunities to constructively visualize and verbalize those thoughts constructively, we'll move closer to a future we the people want. Visualizing the "there" is critical. The program is free and opened to all.
As Dr. King said, "we are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now." We invite and hope you will join us.
