After a disaster such as severe storms, flooding, winter storms and power outages, telecom and utility companies need portable generator support until commercial power is restored. This means contractors are needed to deploy, hook up, refuel, disconnect and retrieve portable generators. Our contract work is often done in and around natural disasters as well as some work that happens throughout the year. If you are called and available to work, you should have a "go bag" and be ready to leave within a very short period of time. A call could come at any time. Must be 18 and have a valid driver license. Key Requirements for Generator Crew: ¾ ton (or larger) Truck with factory towing capacity of 8000 lbs or more.4x4 recommended for all deployments, but only required for winter storms. Tire chains are recommended for ice storms.8000 lb minimum combo ball/pintle adjustable height hitch with 1-7/8”, 2” & 2-5/16” balls Electric brake controller must be installed Trailer light wiring with appropriate adapters Basic Electrical(insulated) & Mechanical Hand ToolsAutomobile jack or small barrel jackPersonal Protective Equipment Includes: Reflective Safety Vest Hard Hat Rain Suit Safety Toe Boots Rubber Gloves – Insulated Volt/Ohm Meter Fire Extinguisher (15-20# unit, ABC Rated) First Aid Kit with eyewash 5 Gallon fuel can, filled with the fuel used in your vehicle.
