Homeless girl by Wal-Mart and Hannaford's

Does anyone know anything about the young, pretty "homeless" girl who stands at the exit of Wal-Mat and Hannaford's waving to people waiting for a handout ? Is she really homeless or just a scammer trying to get money from passersby ? I was tempted to give her some cash but she looks too cleaned up and well dressed to be homeless.
