The Crowns Tea emphasizes the rich traditions of literature, music, the church hat, and gospel music in observance of Black History Month. This event is open to all ages and will include a reading from the book Crowns, a discussion of the significance of church hats to the black community, and a catered tea service. Attendees are invited to wear a hat in celebration as there will be the opportunity to have your portrait taken after the program. The 2023 Crowns Tea will take place on February 18th at 1 PM. The event is free but tickets are required. Funded by the Oklahoma Humanities Council. This is a Thick Descriptions/Oklahoma Educators Evolve event.
