If you love the outdoors and are tired of sitting behind a desk all day then it’s never too late to rethink one of the most rewarding and lucrative professions in the industry, pet care. Contrary to what many people think, a Pet Care professional is not as easy as it sounds. It is not just about taking a dog out for a walk a few times a day; it is also about the huge responsibility associated with looking after a dog. To work as a dog walker, you will need to first make sure that you have an inherent love for animals – particularly for dogs. You will also need to possess the physical strength to walk big dogs – after all you don’t want to be “walked” yourself! You will also need to care for dogs in inclement weather so your appreciation for the great outdoors is also a must. One of the main focusses of this particular position is to pick up dogs from their homes and engage in friendly play. 
 Roles and Responsibilities: • Hard work ethic with passion for animals, nature and money • Walking the dog • Picking up and dropping off dogs to their homes and following designated dog exercise programs and routines • picking up after the dogs and showing them lots of love and affection • Discuss each dog’s nature and individual needs with their owner • Take instructions for walking, feeding, administering medications and exercise programs from dog owners and ensure that they are being complied perfectly • Pick up dogs from their homes and engage in friendly play to make them comfortable • Make note of any special instructions or limitations that dog owners provide • Walk dogs in the outdoors for a designated period • Engage dogs in physical activities such as play and exercise and part of the dog activity plan • Provide dogs with breaks as and when require • Ensure that any waste on the road or sidewalk is cleaned immediately • Manage dogs in case of walking more than one dog at a time • Always ensure dogs’ physical safety and make sure that they do not endanger any other animal or human in the vicinity • Give treats to dogs when they follow instructions • Take photographs and make videos of dogs on a regular basis to show owners how they are faring and keep a daily journal of updates • Be flexible because owners may ask you to cover a weekend getaway • Able to handle and transport multiple dogs at a time • Sometimes a dog walker turn into an overnight job and sleep overs are necessary 
 A Pet Care professional's schedule can be ever changing per client needs and therefore responsibility and flexibility is a must. This person must have a flexible schedule to be able to work early mornings, nights, weekends and some holidays. This person must also be local to the Hingham, MA area. Must also be willing and able to board dogs in your home on occasion which is a way to earn a very lucrative income above and beyond regular pay.
