Lamentations This workshop, based upon Dr. Lessing’s forthcoming CPH commentary on Lamentations, will explore how Jeremiah deals with deep pain and excruciating loss— Babylon’s destruction of Jerusalem in 587 BC. Participants will study pastoral counseling in times of trauma, the role of emotions in the life of a believer, as well as how Isaiah 40–55 directly addresses the cries in Lamentations. The chief theme, Christ’s empathy for sinners and victory over sin, will inform this study of a small book with a huge message of hope.
