Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve Trailhead,Jacksonville FL 32226
25 February, 2023
Description
Join the Florida Wildflower Foundation on Saturday, February 25 at 9:30am for a guided hike in Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park, located in the northeast Duval county.
Foundation staff member Emily Bell will lead a hike through the pine flatwoods, sandhill and ephemeral wetlands where we will see a wide diversity of native flora including the carnivorous Small butterwort (Pinguicula pumila) and lovely Skyblue lupine (Lupinus diffusus).
Nestled in between the beaches and the bustling city of Jacksonville, this expansive natural area is vital to the water quality of the Nassau and St. Johns rivers. It also provides an important refuge for both wildflowers and wildlife!
This hike is about 3 miles long and will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete. Terrain is flat, but soft sandy areas are present.
Registration is free for Florida Wildflower Foundation members and $10 for nonmembers.
