Description
We adopted Jean about 6 months ago, from Mountain Pet Rescue, for our teenage daughter. She is now about 7-8 months old. She is an absolutely wonderful dog but we have conceded that we don’t have enough yard for her to run and get the exercise that she needs. She is incredibly sweet, loves other dogs, and loves people. She wiggles with excitement when she hasn’t seen you all day. We have 5 and 4 yr old girls who have been hugging and clinging on her since we got her. She is highly intelligent and energetic but also loves to cuddle and will fall asleep on you. Catahoula’s are highly social and want to be with their family. However, she is crate trained and enjoys quiet time in her kennel. She does have mild food aggression which is also indicative of their breed. Toys are no problem. She loves playing tug. We are still working on housebreaking. We have taken her to the dog park at least weekly, so she is socialized with other dogs. She is very shy and submissive around dogs but her personality blossoms when one chooses her to play chase with. She went to puppy classes for six weeks and sits and stays on command. Walks great on a harness but not so well on a leash. She loves riding in cars but is a little afraid of loud cars and trucks driving by. She is current on all her shots, check ups, heart worm medicine, and Frontline. She has only been fed grain free Petco brand food and is in perfect health. She will come with her extra large kennel and 2 big bags of food(1 just opened). We have a lot of money invested in her but are not asking for a rehoming fee. We just want someone that will shower her with love and appreciate what a sweetheart she is. Catahoulas are very loyal companions but do require a lot of exercise. Jean would be an amazing hiking companion or family dog. She just needs room to play and be a Catahoula. We love her.
