Description

Volunteers help make all of our camps possible! When you register for one of our camps, you're signing up for more than a day on the mountain. You're joining a community of people who "get it" — a tight-knit community who knows what it's like to live with Type 1 diabetes every single day. We're pushing the limits of the disease in a safe environment, learning that anything is possible with T1D, and we want you to join us! Riding On Insulin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by pro backcountry snowboarder Sean Busby. We've taught thousands of kids & teens with Type 1 diabetes how to ski & snowboard, surf and mountain bike since 2010. What to Expect:On camp day, we split into groups of typically 4-6 campers, which are led by our coaches (all of whom either have T1D or a keen understanding of T1D) and more experienced volunteers. On-snow volunteers are put with the same group for the day and assist ROI coaches when necessary and ride with their groups throughout the day. Volunteers receive a lift ticket, lunch and a camp shirt. A typical schedule looks like: 8:00 AM — Check-in for volunteers 8:00 AM — Check-in for families renting equipment 8:30 AM — Check-in for families not renting equipment 11:30 AM — Skiers lunch time 12:15 PM — Snowboarders lunch time 3:45 PM — Group photo & goodbyes! Campers head with parents to return rentals, if applicable. **************
