The Ford African-Ancestry Network (FAAN) invites you to our 42nd annual Black History Month Celebration. We are excited to announce our first "live" event since 2019 and we look forward to seeing everyone. We have an amazing program planned to celebrate the contributions, innovation and legacy of African- Americans in history.
Our theme for the program is "Black Resilience." Loni Love, Detroit native and two-time EMMY, two-time NAACP Image Awardee and three-time Gracie Award-winning host, comedian, actress, author, and philanthropist, will be our special guest for the evening.
Our Heritage Award, given to individuals who have a legacy of leading, giving and advocating in the community, will be awarded to Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the Detroit branch of the NAACP and Pastor of Fellowship Chapel and Debra White-Hunt - Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Detroit Windsor Dance Academy (DWDA).
Our Community Service award, given to individuals who have had a significant impact on the community in a shorter time, will be awarded to Kirk Mayes - former CEO of Forgotten Harvest and Carla Walker-Miller, Founder and CEO Walker-Miller Energy Services.
And last but not least, we are excited to announce our "Groundbreaker Award" honoree, Kyra Harris-Bolden, who was inaugurated on January 1, 2023, to the Michigan Supreme Court and is the first black woman to serve on the high court.
You don't want to miss this event at the newly remodeled Ford Experience Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Our flyer for the event is attached. Please feel free to share with friends and family.
